To address the issue of declining CSR, GoI has launched Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme. The scheme was launched by Honorable Prime Minister on 22^ndJanuary 2015 at Haryana. By undertaking mass campaign across the nation, focused intervention and multi-sectoral action in the first phase the scheme has been started in 100 districts where the CSR has been critical. On 2^nd January 2016, the Government decided to extend the scheme in another 61 districts.

With the goal of celebrating girl child and enabling her education, the scheme has following objectives:

Prevent gender biased sex selective elimination Ensure survival and protection of the girl child

Ensure education for and participation of the girl child
